1. Certification Overview

In India, cosmetics mean any item intended to be rubbed, poured, sprinkled, sprayed, placed, or otherwise applied to the human body or any part thereof for the purpose of cleansing, beautifying, enhancing attractiveness, or altering appearance, in accordance with the Medicines and Cosmetics Act of 1940.

Cosmetics imported into India are regulated under a registration system of a central licensing authority appointed by the central government of India, and under the Cosmetic Rules, 2020, foreign manufacturers intending to export cosmetics to India must designate an authorized agent in India.

3. Registration Process

  1. Proceeding via online application
  2. Access the cosmetics registration portal http://cdscoonline.gov.in
  3. Create login information after signing up
  4. Submit all details including a valid email ID and mobile phone number
  5. After logging into the portal, select the cosmetic type and the type of application to be submitted on the form submission selection screen.
  6. After entering details, go to the “Checklist” page
  7. Electronic document registration for each check item
  8. Submit after entering details for all documents and forms
  9. A designated officer reviews the submitted application to ensure compliance with the required documents for registration.
  10. If the application is satisfactory in all aspects after review, the product is approved.

5. Validity Period
